Burundi vs Rwanda (Prince Louis Rwagasore Stadium) 3pm
Ivory Coast vs Benin
AMAVUBI midfielder Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza a.k.a Migi is eager to transform his club form to the national side during Sunday’s 2012 Africa Nations Cup against Burundi.
The lanky midfielder has been APR’s most consistent player this season after scoring 14 goals to guide the army side to a record 12th league title last month.
In a brief interview with Times Sport, the player hinted that he is desperate to score goals in national team colours bearing in mind that Sellas Tetteh may opt for a lone striker in Bujumbura.
“I have been in good scoring form for APR and I would want to do the same for the national team,” the 22-year-old said.
With Patrick Mafisango and Olivier Karekezi back in the fold, Migi, who is being courted by Bundesliga club Cologne F.C is likely to play a more advanced role for the wasps.
The team is expected to arrive in Bujumbura Saturday morning before holding a light training session at Prince Louis Rwagasore stadium (the venue for the qualifier).
Amavubi will leapfrog Benin if they beat Burundi and Benin loses against Didier Drogba’s Ivory Coast.
Ivory Coast top Group H with nine points, Benin is second with four points, one ahead of Rwanda and three clear of bottom placed Burundi.
