Kabanda to officiate in Mexico

FELICIEN Kabanda is one of six Africans who will officiate at the upcoming Fifa U-17 World Cup in Mexico. According to Ferwafa’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jules Kalisa, the assistant referee got the nod after impressing at this year’s Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Sudan as well as Caf U-17 Championship which was hosted by Rwanda. He now becomes the second Rwandan to officiate at a Fifa World Cup after Celestin ‘Abegga’ Ntagungira, who retired from the profession after the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa. Other African assistant referees in the fray include Senegal’s Djibril Camara, Aden Marwa of Kenya and South Africa’s Siwela Zakhele. The two center refs include Alioum Neant from Cameroon and Angola’s Martins de Carvalho.
