JUNIOR Wasps first-choice goalkeeper Marcel Nzarora is eager to return in goal for Friday’s friendly against Auxerre’s youth team.
Nzarora suffered a nasty knock on his right knee during Monday’s training session and had to sit out yesterday’s friendly against La Vallion’s U-17 side in Paris, France.
The team’s medical staff is however backing the player to be fit for Friday’s game.
Nzarora was sensational during the 2011 Caf U-17 tournament were Rwanda reached the final only to lose out to Burkina Faso 1-2.
The youngsters are currently camped in Paris as they continue their build up to the FIFA U-17 World Cup to be held in Mexico.
Nzarora was in goal as Richard Tardy’s side fought back from two-goals down to settle for a 2-all draw against Drancy FC U-20 side in their opening warm up game.
Meanwhile, skipper Emery Bayisenge is pleased with the team’s progress after a week of intensive training.
He said, “We have made great progress physically and technically. The confidence is also up there.”
After Auxerre, the junior wasps will take on Creteil (April 26) before clashing with France’s U-17 side (the Little Blues) next Thursday.
The Little Blues will use the match as a build-up to the Euro U-17 championship slated to run from May 3-15 in Serbia.
From Paris, the team will jet back before heading to London for a high profile friendly match against Tottenham’s U-17 side on May 18.
The team will then proceed to Frankfurt, Germany for a one-week training camp before flying to the US for a final practice session ahead of the showdown in Mexico.
