GICUMBI - Residents of Mutete in Gicumbi District were, yesterday, urged to ignore politicians with negative propaganda and look forward to building their future.
Bonane Nyangezi made the remarks during the 17th commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
Speaking at the Mutete Memorial Site where over 1,139 bodies are laid to rest, Nyangezi urged area residents to share ideas on the way forward to change negative mindsets and live healthy lives.
“We should erase all the bad ideas we have in our minds, strive to build our children’s future and make our country a role model in the region now that we are enjoying peace and security,” Nyangezi advised.
Speaking on behalf of Rwanda Defence Forces, Col. Everest Murenzi, assured the residents of security and called on them to ignore people with negative sentiments.
“No one will ever again cause insecurity in this area. We defeated Genocide perpetrators and we will continue to maintain the prevailing peace,” Murenzi pledged.
