Well done gov’t over Iwawa Island

Editor, I was impressed by the way the government handled the issue of Iwawa Rehabilitation and Vocational Centre. Despite criticism from international media outlets, the government reacted wisely and continued educating our children. Some people, especially from the West, had described the Island as a place of no return.

Editor,

I was impressed by the way the government handled the issue of Iwawa Rehabilitation and Vocational Centre.

Despite criticism from international media outlets, the government reacted wisely and continued educating our children. Some people, especially from the West, had described the Island as a place of no return.

But the government has proved to them that they were wrong.
Most of these youths were former street children, who would have turned into monsters tomorrow.

As a parent, I didn’t have much hope in them, yet they are now proud leaders of tomorrow.

They had become a burden to us and would loiter on Kigali streets throughout the day.

Today, they have acquired important skills in life. The Government has, as usual, given our children hope and direction.

I would encourage more parents to join us and travel to Iwawa Island and see with our own eyes how our children have transformed.
