BURUNDI’s New Stars basketball club wants $30, 000 for APR-target Point Guard Francis Sokoroza.
The Burundi No 1 point guard was APR Coach Cliff Owuor’s number one top transfer target after his side was disadvantaged last year both on the domestic and regional level with long injury lists and departure of players.
“That is a ridiculous price on his head, however, I have up to Saturday for him to make up his mind,” stated Owuor, who has been chasing this transfer since January.
Sokoroza would be a good partner alongside fellow countrymen Blaze Nikobahoze and Deo Nkuriyikimana. The club also welcomed back Presta Malemba, who missed most of last year with a bout of malaria.
Whether Sokoroza would be happy in Rwanda is still a mystery following Burundian fans’ reaction to the news that he might be leaving New Stars. That was the mood at the just concluded Rutsindura Memorial tournament in Bujumbura earlier this month.
However, according to Owuor he has up to Saturday to make his mind or else the deal will be off.
