Editor,

I have been closely following updates on the new electricity projects and I can not express my joy and optimism enough at what’s going on countrywide.

The geothermal project, together with the methane project at L. Kivu will provide an invaluable uplift to the economy and help attract more large scale investors.

Currently, we import electricity to supplement our production. However, when these new projects come of age, Rwanda’s energy production will be self sustaining and we will be able to earn a lot of revenue by exporting electricity to our neighbors.

Although we currently don’t produce a lot of electricity, I’m glad that the way it has been handled is sufficient enough to run our manufacturing companies and also provide power to citizens beyond Kigali City.

As a businessman, I know how important this is for my business and can hardly wait to benefit from all these promising government power projects.
