KIGALI - The Minister of Infrastructure, Vincent Karega, has pledged to support the Rwanda Meteorological Agency (RMA) in its endeavour to provide weather and climate services to the people.

He made the remarks, yesterday, during an event to mark the World Meteorology Day, held at RMA headquarters in Kigali.

“Forecasting weather is something complex, so we are investing in more equipment to expand and maintain weather observation in the country,” he said.
He added that, his ministry will partner with RMA to enhance timely weather forecasting so that people can get accurate forecasts.

Karega hailed the meteorological staff for being committed in their work, and acknowledged the support offered by Meteorological-UK.

This year’s celebrations were held under the theme; "Climate for You" and it was the 48th time Rwanda celebrates the World Meteorology Day.

John Ntaganda Semafara, the Director General of RMA, said that in the next five years, they would develop an early warning system for severe weather.
