Gakenke — The Minister of Public service and Labour, Anastase Murekezi, has expressed concern about the low productivity among civil servants and urged them to work harder.
“Our labour productivity is low,” he complained. “Civil servants should be able to produce results and be self-driven.”
He indicated that all civil servants will, from June, sign performance contracts every year, which will help in performance appraisal.
Murekezi, was speaking to Gakenke residents about the policies and responsibilities of his ministry under a government programme locally known as Menyibyawe munyarwanda’, organized by the Ministry of Information.
He advised local government leaders to promote private enterprises such as wielding, carpentry and advised technical institutions to introduce practical subjects to reduce levels of unemployment.
