KAYONZA – New Life Ministries is to invest USD 100 million over the next 5 years in establishment of a modern science school in Kayonza district.Rev. Charles Mugisha Buregeya, the head of New Life Ministries in Rwanda announced this at a function to reward best students at the Kayonza New Life Primary school.

At least 99 percent of Kayonza New Life Primary school pupils, who passed in Grade one last year, were rewarded.

The cleric noted the school that started in a humble way, is growing fast with excellent academic performance.
“Investing in people can start from a humble origin. My wife and I started this school with very little money. Our intention was to provide education, to post genocide Kayonza orphans and other children,” he said.

“We now want to turn it into the best science school in the province and the country. We earmarked at least USD 100 million that will see us realize our aim in 5 years’ time from now.”

John Mugabo, Kayonza district Mayor, stressed the importance of education in the general development of the country.

“Investment in service provision is very important, and more so, when it is in education. The expansion of the school will see many get employment, farmers will enjoy the proximity of the market for their produce as well as many other trickle down effects,” he said.

The school’s head master, John Africa, stated that teachers at the school are professional enough that they are highly motivated.

He said the school is privileged with some of the best teachers in the country that will no doubt handle the expansion of the school.

“We pay teachers well and they in turn perform excellently...without teachers a nation can’t survive. So, as the school focuses on expansion, we expect them to do even more,” he said.

The function was attended by local leaders and King David School students and teachers.
