KIGALI - The Ministry of Local Government (MINALOC) will distribute 700,000 iron sheets to vulnerable Rwandans under the anti-Nyakatsi programme.
This was announced, yesterday, by Augustin Kampayana, who heads the rural settlement taskforce in the ministry, while presiding over a function, to distribute iron sheets in Kicukiro district.
“We have distributed over 50,000 iron sheets towards the programme,” Kampayana said.
He noted that the irons sheets are given to district authorities who then pass them on to the beneficiaries.
Kampayana said that the ministry started giving out iron sheets to various districts, last Friday. Burera, Gakenke, Nyabihu, Ngororero, and Bugesera have already received their share.
According to Kampayana, MINALOC will spend over Rwf3bn buying the sheets.
By May this year, he said, they will have completed distribution of both iron sheets and accessories such as nails.
