Rayon vs APR (March 12)

RAYON Sport’s new head coach Andy Mfutila has boosted the squad with three new signings.

The former APR and AS Vita coach has brought in AS Dragon winger Ronsalt Mbenza, Alain Ndozouau from Onatra FC and AS Vita’s Messi Rubenza as the club pushes for a second post finish in the Primus National Football League (PNFL) and win the MTN Peace Cup which will guarantee them continental football (Orange Confederation Cup) next year.

“We have been tracking them for some time and we are delighted that they have finally signed,” Rayon’s assistant coach Emmanuel Ruremesha said.

“We hope they can help us win the MTN Peace Cup which is our major priority this season,” he added.

Mbenza will boost the right wing; Ndozouau will improve the side’s creativity while Rubenza is a central defender.

The Blues’ director general Jim Ford Angulu confirmed that the players had joined on two year contracts but was reluctant to reveal how much the club had paid for their signatures.

“For now, what is important is that they have joined us. The specifics of their contracts will be revealed later,” the Kenyan said.

Mfutila, who has been in his native country- the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), is expected to return this week.

Rayon’s next Primus league fixture is against arch rivals and defending champions APR on March 12 and the fans have already raised their hopes following recent changes at the club.

Despite having played a game less, APR are still 10 points clear of the blues.Rayon has not won a trophy since 2004.
