Sudan reach quarter finals

HOSTS Sudan reached the quarter final of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Saturday when drawing 0-0 with Algeria. The Desert Foxes also reached the last eight after the Group A game in Khartoum.

The result means Sudan finished top of the group with seven points while Algeria finished second with five points.
Gabon finished third in the group and failed to qualify despite beating Uganda 2-1 in the day’s other game.
Jerry Pitty Djoue scored both goals for the Gabonese with Juma Ibrahim getting the late consolation.

Tunisia won their first match of the tournament when beating Rwanda 3-1 in Sudan on Friday
The result lifted the North Africans to second in Group D after Senegal were held to a goalless draw by Angola in the group’s other game.

Tunisia’s Oussama Darragi opened the scoring after 22 minutes, only for Jacques Tuyisenge to reply two minutes later.

But further first-half goals from Slama Gasdaoui and Zouhaier Dhaouiadi earned Tunisia’s first win after their draw with Angola.

The loss means that Rwanda can no longer reach the quarter-finals.

Senegal stay on top of the group with four points after failing to overcome a stubborn Angola side in Friday’s other game.
