President Paul Kagame is indeed right when he calls on African universities to invest more in science and technology, research and development, if the continent is to achieve prosperity.
Africans leaders must support President Kagame on this because there is no country that can develop without promoting research.
We live in a very competitive world and it is high time African universities adjusted and introduced research, so that they produce students who are able to compete with their counterparts from the West.
Countries in the West have developed simply because their universities have been able to produce students who are job creators.
Without focusing on science, technology or extensive research, Africa will continue to lag behind.
It’s time to change and stop depending on scientists from the west. It is good that Rwanda has already embarked on this of promoting science through Kigali institute of science and technology school.
I appeal to the Ministry of Education to encourage more education investors to focus on science.
