Yes, crop intensification will boost agriculture

Editor, Allow me to comment on a story that appeared in The Newtimes of January, 28, on the Crop Intensification campaign being conducted in the agriculture sector. I totally agree with Prime Minister, Bernard Makuza that the government’s initiative to have all farmers use the Crop Intensification Programme (CIP) has already produced impressive results and benefited many rural farmers.

Editor,

Allow me to comment on a story that appeared in The Newtimes of January, 28, on the Crop Intensification campaign being conducted in the agriculture sector.

I totally agree with Prime Minister, Bernard Makuza that the government’s initiative to have all farmers use the Crop Intensification Programme (CIP) has already produced impressive results and benefited many rural farmers.

Like the Prime Minister argued, once farmers have adopted the government’s policy, their agricultural yields rise and they are able to solve the problems in their households.

Farmers who depended on rudimentary methods of farming have since abandoned the practice and embraced modern farming.

As a result, the farmers have not only been able to harvest enough to feed their families, but have managed to save enough to take to the market. This kind of approach should be extended to other sectors too.
