KIGALI - The National Consultative Forum for Political Organisations, yesterday, held its General Assembly and elected MP Jacqueline Mukakanyamugenge as its spokesperson.
The forum is a platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas among political organisations on the country’s problems and national policies.
Mukakanyamugenge, who is also the vice president of PSD, replaced Phoebe Kanyange of PSP who has been at the helm of the forum for the past six months.
Also elected was the deputy spokesperson of the forum, Henriette Mukakarangwa Sebera.
Sebera who is also a member of parliament on the PL party ticket, replaced Christine Mukabunani of PS-Imberakuri.
Speaking after her election, Sebera promised to continue from where their predecessors had left off and to put more emphasis on enhancing more political dialogue among forum members.
“We are going to work with you all because we are here to serve you. But we shall also need your counsel during our time in office,” Sebera said.
The forum comprises of a General Assembly, the supreme organ, which constitutes representatives of legally recognized Political Organisations.
Each Political Organization provides four representatives to the Assembly, two of whom are women.
It also has the bureau which is led by a spokesperson with a deputy spokesperson and the executive secretariat that is headed by the executive secretary.
The bureau has the responsibility of following up on the implementation of decisions by the General Assembly.
