Third-place playoff – (Kigali Regional
Ivory Coast vs Congo-3pm
LOSING semi-finalists Ivory Coast and Congo Brazzaville will face-off this afternoon in a third-place playoff match at Kigali Regional Stadium.
The match is a repeat of their Group B match which ended in a 2-all draw.
After reaching the semi-finals with an unbeaten record following a run of two wins and a draw for either side, tables were turned when Congo Brazzaville lost out to Burkina Faso on penalty shoot-outs (4-2) while the baby elephants crushed out after a 1-0 defeat against hosts Rwanda.
After Wednesday’s semi-final, Ivory Coast coach Alain Gouamana said that his side had been unlucky and that they give everything in today’s game.
“We shall now put everything into the Congo match,” he said.
Congo coach Eddie Hudansky also has his eyes on the bronze medal which awaits the winner of today’s contest.
“The tournament is still on and we have to try and win tomorrow (today)’s game,” he said adding that, “it will be a very interesting game because the teams know each other so well.”
