Editor,

In the last grassroots elections for Gatsibo district, I recall a case where a man restrained his wife from standing for an elective post.

Through your paper , therefore, allow me to appeal to my fellow women to actively participate in the forth coming local government elections.

Women should overcome the cultural barriers which have been one of the major hindrances to their participation in politics. The perception that men are superior to women has no place in this modern era.

The women’s voice has to be heard the same way the men are heard.decision making and governance is no longer for of men only.

The number of women in Rwanda’s parliament underscores the fact that times have changed and there is need for more women in the management process.

To men, like the one for Gatsibo, please do not trample on the rights of women, let them  participate in politics. By embracing politics, women will be able to take the challenge of ensuring that all forms discrimination against them is eliminated.
