Rwf1.7bn worth of street lights for Kigali City

KIGALI - Kigali City Council (KCC) plans to install street lights stretching 27.7 kilometres in the city at an estimated cost of Rwf 1.7bn. According to Bruno Rangira, KCC’s Director of Communication, the six-month project that began on January 4 is jointly funded by the Ministry of Infrastructure and KCC.

KIGALI - Kigali City Council (KCC) plans to install street lights stretching 27.7 kilometres in the city at an estimated cost of Rwf 1.7bn.

According to Bruno Rangira, KCC’s Director of Communication, the six-month project that began on January 4 is jointly funded by the Ministry of Infrastructure and KCC. NPD-Cotraco, a local construction company, is executing the works.

Rangira revealed that the streets to be fitted with lights include 6.4 km of the Nyabugogo-Kanogo roundabout; 4.8 km of the Sonatube-Kicukiro to centre-Nyanza Memorial; and Kimicanga-US Embassy (1.2km).

Others are Giporoso-Remera taxi park-Rwahama Complex; City centre roundabout-BCR-Serena Hotel; Nyabugogo-Gatsata-Karuruma-Kabuye (6.8 km); and Nyabugogo-Giticyinyoni-Nyabugogo River (5.7 km) areas.
