SC KIYOVU coach Jean Marie Ntagwabira has lauded his players for grinding out results amidst the current financial problems at the club.

Players and the coaching staff have gone two months without pay but that has not deterred the team from collecting maximum points in their last two Primus National Football league fixtures against the big boys Rayon Sport (2-0) and Police (1-0).

These crucial victories have left the green baggies second on the league chart with 16 points, eight adrift of defending champions APR.

Ntagwabira, who has coached APR and Atraco in the past, is convinced that if the club’s financial woes are settled, the team is capable of mounting a serious title challenge.

“Of course APR are favorites to retain the league trophy but if things get better here, I have no doubt that we can put them (APR) under more pressure.”

“With the Orange Champions League coming up, I’m sure APR will drop points,” he added.

Ntagwabira is seeking to become the first local coach to win three league titles with three different clubs. He has already won titles with Atraco and APR.
