I am a former employee of Travaux d’Interêts Généraux (TIG). I was sacked unfairly in July, this year. I, together with seventeen colleagues petitioned the office of Ombudsman, who investigated the case properly.
After the probe, the Ombudsman, Tito Rutaremara asked TIG boss, Evariste Bizimana to give us back our jobs but he has refused.
It’s now almost five months since the directive, and Bizimana is just playing games with us. Recently, he told the Ombudsman in writing that he would re-instate us but this has not happened.
How long are we going to wait? I believe the Ombudsman has the powers to tell leaders who don’t follow the laws to do so. We are very frustrated to see leaders who are supposed to treat all employees fairly and on merit walk in the opposite direction.
But it hurts even more when he is told to change and he refuses. Both Ombudsman and the Ministry of Internal Affairs found out that he fired us maliciously. Even the ministry wrote to him reprimanding him. This is unfair and relevant organs should intervene.
