THE National Olympic Committee (NOC) has scrapped off term limits for the body chief.
During Saturday’s general assembly, which attracted 16 of the 25 sports federations at Milles Collines Hotel, the one-year renewable term limit adopted in 1996 was abandoned which literally means that NOC boss Dr. Charles Rudakubana is free to re-contest at the end of his term.
Rudakubana replaced Ignace Beraho who had served two 4-year terms last December.
The general assembly also adopted a new legal statute to govern the body. The statute, which has English, French and Kinyarwanda, is currently awaiting approval from the Notaire.
Meanwhile, NOC also extended the deadline for federations who have not acquired legal status.
So far, only six federations namely; Volleyball, Karate, AIPS, ARDEMES, Chess and the National Paralympics Committee (NPC) have acquired legal status.
