In a bid to curb environment degradation, Rwanda National Police (RNP), yesterday, received a truck from Rwanda Environmental Management Authority (REMA) that will help in tracking individuals degrading the environment in the country.
Rose Mukankomeje the Director General of REMA handed over the double cabin truck to Commissioner General of Police, Emmanuel Gasana at police headquarters.
Speaking to the media after the event, Mukankomeje said that the vehicle will strengthen the capacity of the police department in charge of environment to follow up on those people who destroy the environment.
“This vehicle will also boost the operational capacity of the police throughout the country to help people to understand their role in protecting the environment,” she said.
Police Spokesperson, Supt. Eric Kayiranga said that, apart from the vehicle, RNP has been trained by REMA to help implement the Organic Law of protecting ,conserving and promotion of environment in the country through constant training.
“This is a good opportunity for our department in charge of environment to work tirelessly in ensuring environmental protection in the country,” he stressed.
