Members of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), in Nyarugenge district, were on Sunday urged to fill the party’s structures up to the village (Umudugudu) level during elections set for the beginning of next year.

The appeal was delivered by Yvonne Uwayisenga, a senior party official, as she addressed the party’s assembly held at Kabusunzu, in Nyarugenge.

Uwayisenga also urged the party faithful to cooperate with local leaders in helping develop the country.

According to a statement from the party, the PSD leaders in Nyarugenge discussed and exchanged views on various issues including what was accomplished by PSD in the district, during the year 2010, as well as what they plan for 2011.

Some of the party’s achievements in 2010 as highlighted by Charles Uhagaze, the party’s secretary and finance coordinator, include filling up party structures in the district; supporting the party’s presidential candidate in the August 9 presidential polls; and working well with party and national structures.

Among the planned activities for the party is holding local elections scheduled for the beginning of 2011.

Established in 1991, PSD aspires to promote justice, cooperation and progress in the country.
