MUSANZE - Pupils at Mubona Primary School in Musanze district danced with excitement, after receiving scholastic materials and shoes donated by the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), last weekend.
The donation worth Rwf730, 000 was handed over by the bank’s Musanze branch manager, Christian Bahunde, who said it was part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility programmes.
Bahunde, explained that the recipient school was identified after an assessment of its basic needs.
“This contribution is in the spirit of caring for the community… we decided to support the education sector which is the first priority for KCB foundation program that also includes environment, health, entrepreneurship and welfare development,’’ Bahunde said.
At the hand-over ceremony, the Musanze vice Mayor, Jérôme Mugenzi, commended the initiative, saying besides banking and business, it’s valuable to engage in community development through such programmes.
He challenged parents to follow suit in providing their children with shoes as well as ensuring hygiene for the children.
