KARONGI - The Governor of the Western Province, Celestin Kabahizi, has strongly spoken out against the United Nations DR Congo Human Rights Mapping Report, describing it as malicious and biased.

The highly controversial report, released last Friday alleges that Rwandan forces might have committed atrocities in the DRC.

During an interview yesterday, Kabahizi maintained that the report lacks credible facts, is flawed and baseless.

“It is clear that the report is only aimed at wrongly criticizing Rwanda and hiding the truth of the reality. The UN is trying to justify its mistakes by imposing them on Rwanda and this is unacceptable,” the Governor said.

He criticized the UN for failing to stop the Genocide against the Tutsi and then turning around to accuse the government of Rwanda for committing the crimes it fought to stop in 1994.

Kabahizi added that the authors of the document only want to criticize Rwanda because they are not happy with the country’s rapid level of development.

Meanwhile residents have also condemned the report saying that it is misleading and confusing to the public in order to divert attention from what actually happened in Rwanda and in DRC.
