I would like to commend the work done by the Community Policing units in ensuring the security of the country in the recent past. The 14, 953 Community Policing Committees (CPCs) currently operating at the lowest local administrative level, the Umudugudu, have played a great role in crime prevention at the grassroots level.
I, a resident of Nyamirambo, have witnessed this; the night gangs that used to harass us as we returned home from our days activities are now rarely heard of in the area.
I have no doubt that these committees played a great role in ensuring that there is lasting security.
The Rwanda National Police (RNP) recently said that with the help of CPCs, crimes like money laundering, drug trafficking and consumption, as well as theft have tremendously reduced.
I have now learnt that for peace and security to prevail, every citizen has to be responsible. CPCs, RNP you are doing a great job.
