2012 Nations Cup Qualifier

September 4

Ivory Coast vs Rwanda
Benin          vs Burundi

OUT of a pool of over 20 professionals, Amavubi head coach Sellas Tetteh has centered on Saddou Boubakary and Louis Aniweta for the upcoming 2012 Orange Africa Nations Cup Group H qualifier against Ivory Coast.

Boubakary plays for Oman’s first division side Al Nahda Sports Club while Aniweta has been dominating headlines in Cyprus with Nea Salamina Famagusta.

Tetteh believes that Aniweta is a perfect replacement for Jean Baptist Mugiraneza a.k.a Migi who will miss the September 4 qualifier because of professional trials at Bundesliga side FC Koln.

The professional pair is now expected to link up with a field of 25 local based players who are already undergoing non-residential training at Ferwafa.

Some of the high profile names overlooked by the Ghanaian include Patrick Mafisango (Azam) and former Amavubi captains Olivier Karekezi (Osters) and Hamad Ndikumana a.k.a Katauti.

For Tetteh to repeat what Rotamir Djukovic did in 2004, Rwanda must top the group or at least appear among the best three qualifiers from all the groups.

Amavubi will leave for Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast on September 2, two days before the crunch tie.
The 2012 Nations Cup will be co-hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
