Urban Boyz, a local vocal group, of three boys, on Friday launched their debut album ‘Gatebe gatoki’.
During the launch, which was held at the National University of Rwanda (NUR), the group drew a massive crowd and proved that they had what it takes to get a mammoth crowd.
Things got off to a rousing start with spine-tingling performances from Edouce, J-Kid, Paccy, The Brothers, Riderman, Dream Boyz, Da Black and Babou, 9, who literally sent music lovers off the hook.
Meanwhile, Uncle Austin made the audience break into tears when he performed his hit ‘Tur’Umuyaga’, a song he dedicated to late Shyaka Clever, Radio 10’s sports presenter, who passed away early last week.
There was no doubt about the admiration the audience had for Urban Boyz, who took to the stage at 12:00 a.m.
They belted out all their singles, including ‘Sindindyarya’, their latest hit which is currently on every local music fan’s lips and kept the audience fascinated with a string of their hits, including ‘Gatebe gatoki’, the title of their latest album.
