KIGALI - PRESIDENT elect, Paul Kagame, has said nothing else earned the RPF the huge victory in the Monday’s Presidential elections other than honest leadership displayed over the last sixteen years.

Appearing on Contact FM’s show- Rwanda Decides, hosted by, Andrew Mwenda, last evening, Kagame, who had already registered 93 percent victory by press time, explained that the lives of Rwandans had greatly improved under RPF’s leadership.

Kagame said RPF was very happy because it had restored the dignity of all Rwandans.

He noted that a number of initiatives, designed to improve the lives of the Rwandan people, such as, acquiring better education, accessing health facilities and increasing their incomes, had been successful.

Kagame told the listeners that the RPF win was a victory for development, for all Rwandans and for the new Rwanda.
“These are what Rwandans look for,” Kagame said, during the three-hour show which had many people calling-in and sending SMS messages.

He explained that the huge support and massive turnout of supporters that characterized his campaigns, were a reflection of other factors such as peace and stability and impressive economic programmes initiated by the RPF.

Kagame, went on to discuss democracy, public debate and succession among other issues. He explained that public debate was healthy, and still growing.

The detailed interview will be printed in The New Times of tomorrow, Thursday, August 12.
