With just two days to the Presidential elections scheduled for Monday August 9, the Liberal Party (PL) presidential contender, Prosper Higiro, yesterday wound up his campaigns in Kigali City calling on Rwandans to vote for him to help the party implement what he termed as “the good programmes for Rwandans.”
Higiro’s last city rally was held in Gisozi Sector, Gasabo District where over 800 supporters from the 15 sectors in the district converged.
Ac companied by PL bigwigs, who included party president, Protais Mitali, Higiro was welcomed by chants of; “Higiro wacu! Perezida wacu!” (Our Higiro! Our President!).
“We have come to seek for your votes so that we may be able to implement these good programmes we have for Rwandans… and we have no doubt you will give us the votes to secure a win,” Higiro said.
He said PL programmes are based on three pillars of liberty, justice and development and added that they will prioritize the freedom of all Rwandans in politics and in their day-to-day activities “because for any development to be registered people must have liberty.”
Good governance without injustice, equal opportunities in government positions and in trade are the other things, he said, that will be prioritized once he gets the mandate.
He promised to revitalize the public service and labour commission to give equal opportunities to all Rwandans seeking jobs and to deal with the tender scams that have been prevalent in some public institutions.
Equal rights before the law, bringing to book all criminals, and creation of more employment opportunities, especially for the youth, are some of the other things that will be given more attention once PL wins.
“Rwandans need to have peace for development to take effect, which we will strive for,” Higiro said.
The candidate promised to create a conducive environment for Rwandans to become job creators other than job seekers.
He observed that the youth currently fear to take risks in businesses, and said that new measures to sensitise them how to take risks will be implemented.
Revitalizing the education sector to achieve a job creating population at all levels, supporting the private sector to have an upper hand in the development of the education sector and supporting small scale industries, are also provided for in Higiro’s agenda.
“While implementing Kigali city Master Plan, Higiro said all levels of income earners in the city will be catered for.
