Polling stations are well on course in several parts in Kigali City ahead of the August 9 presidential polls.
By yesterday afternoon when The New Times visited some stations, they were busy putting on the final touches.
At College APADE polling station in Kigarama Sector, Kicukiro District, all 14 polling booths had already been built inside classrooms.
Claudette Mukantwari, the electoral coordinator in the sector, said that all the five polling stations in the Sector were ready.
“Other activities concerning cleaning the polling sites and decorating them will be done on Saturday in a special community cleaning activity,” Mukantwari said, adding that currently, they are verifying the voters list.
At Mburabuturo polling station, also Kicukiro District, the secret wooden voting places were already in place and the decorations were underway.
At Groupe Scolaire Remera Catholic 1 polling station, the school director, Jean de Dieu Kwizera said that setting up the booths would begin today.
However, at APE Rugunga polling station in Kiyovu and Kivugiza Primary school polling station in Nyamirambo, both in Nyarugenge District, nothing had been done by yesterday and no one was at the scene when The New Times visited the stations.
On Saturday August 7, special communal work (Umuganda)will be held countrywide to clean and decorate polling centres.
