Does REB need own a publishing house?

For sure they will carry on publishing other books, but the government has disappointed the local entrepreneurs.

Editor,

RE: “Education board moves to create publishing house for textbooks” (The New Times, December 28). I
believed in local publishers who have been pushing for the growth of this industry, but with this
decision it’s going to be difficult.

For sure they will carry on publishing other books, but the government has disappointed the local
entrepreneurs. Previously, they used to work with Kenyan and Ugandan publishers, and now they are coming up with REB Publishing House. Let’s wait and see; maybe local publishers will somehow gain from this, who knows?
