Final day results
Rwanda won by 91 runs
RWANDA finished second in the ICC Africa U19 Division 2 World Cup qualifiers which climaxed yesterday in Swaziland after thrashing Mozambique by 91 runs at Sisekelo cricket oval.
Desire Manirambona was the architect of the win with his man of the match performance (38 runs and four wickets).
After winning the toss, Rwanda opted to bat first and piled 170 runs in 45 overs. Evode Mutuyimana, who was by far Rwanda’s top batsman in the six-day event, fell one run short of what would have been a maiden international half century (49).
It was Rwanda’s third win of the tournament after Wednesday’s five-wicket victory over Swaziland and Thursday’s eight-wicket win over Gambia.
Nigeria won the tournament in style after winning all their games.
The youngsters jet back tonight. The team’s trip was jointly sponsored Sonarwa, National Olympic Committee (RNOC) and the Ministry of Sports and Culture (Minispoc).
