Interforce FC have beefed up their squad with five new players ahead of their Second Division League opener against United Stars at FERWAFA ground on Sunday.

Interforce FC replaced Isonga FC and returned to play in the second division after missing out last year. They are in Group B along with University of Rwanda FC, Rugende FC, La Jeunesse, Intare FC, Heroes FC, Vision JN, AS Muhanga, SEC Academy, Hope FC and United Stars.

According to the local football governing body, FERWAFA, all teams in the second tier will use players under the age of 23, and all must be Rwandans.

Interforce FC head coach Ildephonse Nkotanyi revealed that the five new recruits include; Amani Rutayisire, Remo Kwizera Rwibutso, Emmy Dereck Mucyo, Hakim Bugingo and Ivan Mugisha, all from Isonga FC.

“We have signed five players from Isonga FC and I hope they will help us have a successful season,” Nkotanyi told Times Sport on Wednesday.

He noted that, “We started (pre-season) training a bit late, but I believe we’ve had good preparations and I believe we shall be ready for the season opener on Sunday. We want to win against United Stars.”

His opposite number, Gaspard Munyeshema of United Stars, said, “Our target for this season is to reach at least the semi-finals, after that, we shall see what happens.”

United Stars, who finished fifth in Group A, and missed out of the quarter-finals, have added ten new players in preparation for the new campaign.
