GICUMBI – Liberal Party (PL) Presidential candidate, Prosper Higiro, on Wednesday pledged to boost Rwanda’s economic growth in various economic fields, if elected President.

Higiro was addressing party supporters at Byumba’s new taxi park, during his second campaign rally.

“PL has been participating actively in the government of National Unity for the last 16 years to usher in good governance, democracy, reviving of the economy and unity of Rwandans,” he said.

Higiro further pledged to increase agricultural production for food security and export, to generate income for rural farmers.

“Agriculture production is still low countrywide, which is why much more effort is needed in promoting modern agriculture,” he said.

The presidential candidate added that his party will increase the number of technical institutions countrywide to enable the youth become self employed upon completion of their studies.

On family planning, Higiro said he would ensure each family produces not more than three children, to control population growth.

Party supporters danced and chanted party slogans, calling on their faithful to vote for PL because it is a party of “willing and capable servants of the people.”

PL president, Protais Mitali, campaign manager Francois Byabarumwanzi, the party’s Northern Province chairman, Evariste Kalisa and Gicumbi District party chairman Bernard Musore, were also present.
