This is in reference to Linda Mbabazi’s very interesting article entitled “ Rwanda Film Festival Opening Night Gala”.
It is very encouraging to see the Rwanda film industry, “Hillywood” taking shape , slowly but steadily.
A film festival like what is under way at present provides a great opportunity to showcase latent talent.
Just as Rwanda has “ Hillywood “ , we in India have “Bollywood “ which has grown to become a multi-million dollar business.
Rwanda has some exotic locations which would be ideal for Bollywood movies. Countries from all corners of the world have effectively taken the “ Bollywood” route to boost their inbound tourism and we would be very happy to assist Rwanda Tourism to tap into this lucrative market.
Bollywood would offer Rwanda a two fold advantage :
- shooting an Indian movie in the country would give enormous exposure not only in India, but also across several countries where non -resident Indians work and live:
- the destination would become much sought after, since the Indian film stars would have actually shot a movie in this beautiful country.
We wish Eric Kabera , CEO of RCC , every success with the Rwanda Film Festival and look forward to the day when Bollywood becomes an integral part of the Rwanda Film Industry.
