Genocide: Nothing can save France from the shame and guilt

What France did is not a secret and therefore whether they keep the archives or not, the truth about their role in the Genocide against Tutsi in Rwanda will remain. Those who still doubt their role should visit Murambi and Bisesero.

Editor,

RE: “Genocide: France can keep the archives; the truth is there for all to see” (The New Times, September 21).

What France did is not a secret and therefore whether they keep the archives or not, the truth about their role in the Genocide against Tutsi in Rwanda will remain. Those who still doubt their role should visit Murambi and Bisesero.

I have never gotten used to the testimonies of the old men and women who lost all their children and relatives in the hands of French troops who, instead of protecting them, only left them to be killed.

French officials should know that keeping the archives does not save them from shame of not protecting innocent Tutsi, and yet they had the power to do so, shame of not extraditing genocidaires in their country, shame of not accepting their role.
