I was pleased to read in yesterday’s issue of The New Times that 27 journalists from various Rwandan media houses are undergoing a training that has been designed to improve on how the Parliament is covered in the news.
I think that this training is needed. It’s rare that we, the readers, read stories about what is happening in Parliament. And I doubt that it is because there aren’t any stories coming out of the august House.
Its simply because reporters aren’t covering them. With this training, I hope that journalists will see the need for parliamentary reporting.
