It will be the third meeting between the two teams after they had met twice during the group stage games in Group B. Rwanda lost the first game 87-95 but managed to bounce back in the return leg to win 73-70 – Madagascar went on to finish third and Rwanda fourth, both tied on eight points same as Algeria, who finished second, behind group leader and defending champions, Egypt. In the 5-8 classification games played on Friday, Moise Mutokambali’s side defeated Mozambique 67-33, thanks to Thierry Nkundwa’s 22 points. On the other hand, Madagascar thrashed hosts Mauritius 125-13. Rwanda will be looking to improve from their previous performance in 2015 where they finished in the ninth place. By press time, the semi-finals pitting Egypt and Tunisia plus Mali against Algeria were due to be played. The final and third place playoffs are scheduled for today. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
