NYANZA- Residents and local leaders in Nyanza cell, Busesamana Sector in Nyanza District have emerged as the best cell in the Southern Province in implementing community work known as Umuganda.
Nyanza cell emerged best out of the 532 cells that make up the Southern Province. The Governor of Southern Province, Fidèle Ndayisaba, last week awarded cell officials with a cash-prize of Rwf640,000 plus a certificate of appreciation from the Ministry of Local Government.
Ndayisaba hailed the residents for their outstanding efforts and urged residents to keep up the pace.
“This success is evidence that residents are committed to community development, through good planning and unreserved participation,” he said.
Mugabo André, the cell leader, attributed the achievements to the collaboration of residents and the desire to participate in social and economic development.
“The secret to this success is that local leaders work hand-in-hand with village committees to mobilize residents to work hard,” he said.
