Fallen peacekeepers’ bodies arrive today

KIGALI - The bodies of the three Rwandan peacekeepers who were killed in Nertiti, Western Darfur last week, are expected to arrive in Kigali today afternoon aboard a UN Chartered plane. The deceased peacekeepers were serving in the African Union-United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur (UNAMID).

KIGALI - The bodies of the three Rwandan peacekeepers who were killed in Nertiti, Western Darfur last week, are expected to arrive in Kigali today afternoon aboard a UN Chartered plane.

The deceased peacekeepers were serving in the African Union-United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur (UNAMID).

Sgt. Valence Musabyimana, Cpl. Sadiki Kabango and Pte. Joseph Ntawumenyumunsi, died when unidentified gunmen ambushed them at a site where they were guarding civilian engineers working near the village of Nertiti, in the Jebel Marra region.

At the airport, senior military commanders and families of the fallen troops are expected to receive the bodies.
