Kicukiro District’s 2010/2011 budget has increased by 80 percent, from Rwf 5bn in the last financial year to Rwf 9bn.
In the budget presented to Kicukiro residents at ETO Kicukiro yesterday, the Mayor, Paul Jules Ndamage, 51 percent (Rwf 4.6bn) was allocated to development projects.
The budget, of which 44 percent is provided by the Central government, will also cater for 65 classrooms in the second phase of the Nine-Year Basic Education (9-YBE) while modern markets in Kigarama and Gahanga will also be constructed to a tune of Rwf 330m.
The district will also support Vision Umurenge Programme and provide employment to about 1830 people under the same programme, support Umurenge SACCO and people with disabilities.
The event, presided over by Xavier Francois Karekezi; the president of the District Advisory Council (DAC),was also attended by Members of Parliament living in the district.
