Rwanda International and Police fast rising striker Danny Usengimana is on the brink of completing a move to Tanzania’s Premier League side Singida United in a reported US$100,000 (About Rwf82.6 million) at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old star has been one of the hotshots in the Azam Rwanda Premier League for the past two years and had attracted attention from many regional clubs. He was recently rumored to be headed to the Spanish second division, but according to the star in an interview with Times Sport on Saturday, a transfer to Tanzania has been verbally agreed between both clubs and himself.

“I met officials from Singida United Club and we agreed on everything. They also held talks with my club and from the information I have been given, they also accepted their offer and it is scheduled that the paper work will also be finalized within days,” said Usengimana

The former Isonga FC star is set to sign a two-year deal where he will be given a salary of US$2,500 (About Rwf2 million) on top of accommodation and a vehicle while from his US$100,000 transfer, it is reported that Usengimana will pocket US$40,000 (Rwf33 million).

“I had several offers from other leagues but I opted for this one because I believe it is a league that can give me better experience and act as a good stepping stone in my bid for a professional career,” he added

Singinda United is a newly promoted club to the Tanzania topflight league after winning the 2016/17 title and will be making their maiden appearance next season (2017/18). However, they seem not taking anything for granted as they are very much engaged in building a formidable squad.

They have appointed former Yanga FC head coach Dutch Hans Pluijm and signed big names including Elisha Muroiwa and Wisdom Mtasa from Power Dynamos plus Tafadwa Kutinyu from Chicken Inn.

Usengimana has been with Police for the past two seasons and was in his third season. In his second season, Usengimana finished as the league top scorer with 16 goals joint top with APR’s Muhadjiri Hakizimana and he currently leads the top scorers chart this season with 15 goals in 23 games.
