APR women volleyball club will represent Rwanda at the 2017 CAVB Women’s African Club Championship that started on Friday and will run until April 18 in Monastir, Tunisia.
National league champions Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) were initially lined up for the event but pulled out citing financial challenges. APR, who replaced them, have been drawn in Pool C along with Kenyan giants Pipeline, Algeria’s GSP, and Bafia from Cameroon.
The draw for the 2017 Women’s African club Championship was held in Monastir on Wednesday in the presence of CAVB president Dr Amr Elwani and Control Committee members.
Seventeen teams will take part in the annual competition. They have been divided into four pools of 4 teams each except Pool B which features five teams.
Organisers Carthage are drawn alongside debutants Ndejje University from Uganda and Asec from Cote d’Ivoire.
Pool A: Carthage, Organiser (TUN), Asec (CIV), INJS (CMR), Ndejje (UGA)
Pool B: Ahly (EGY), University (ZIM), Marsa (TUN), Bejaia (ALG), Prisons (KEN)
Pool C: Pipeline (KEN), GSP (ALG), APR (RWA), Bafia (CMR)
Pool D: Shams (EGY), ARSU (SEY), Sfaxien (TUN), FAP (CMR).
