CAF Confed Cup: Second leg
Rayon Sports Vs Onze Créateurs 3:30p.m
Rayon Sports’ CAF Confederation Cup opponents AS Onze Créateurs de Niaréla of Mali arrived in the country on Thursday ahead of the second leg of the first round tie of the continental competition due Saturday at Amahoro National Stadium.
The Malian outfit, who edged Rayon Sports 1-0 in the first leg last weekend in Bamako, courtesy of Boubacar Samassékou’s lone strike, will conduct a training session at Amahoro National Stadium on Friday.
Rayon need to win with a two-goal margin in order to advance to the next stage and team captain Eric ‘Bakame’ Ndayishimiye this week urged his teammates to be fully focused on the tough mission that awaits them.
“We will be playing at home, in front of our fans but that’s not enough, we will need to give our very best because Onze Créateurs are a very good team as we saw in the first leg. But we have a good chance to progress to the next round,” Bakame told Times Sport.
A 1-0 win for the Blues would take the game into penalty shoot-out to decide the eventual winner.
The 16 winning teams from the first round two-legged fixtures will face the 16 losers from the Champions League first round. The 16 eventual winners in the play-off round will advance to the lucrative group stage.
Rayon Sports reached the first round of Africa’s second biggest club competition after eliminating South Sudan’s Al Wau Salaam in the preliminary round, 6-0 on goal aggregate.
