Rwanda is not easily intimidated

Editor,

Following the recent uproar by a clique of defence lawyers at the ICTR who claim that the arrest of Peter Erlinder is unfair and unjust, I would like to respond by saying that Rwanda has a right to protect her people against the likes of Erlinder.

This kind of attitude only depicts that the ICTR lawyers are compromised and do not believe in Rwanda’s justice system. Even after it is clear that Genocide denial is against the law, these lawyers continue to protest Rwanda’s decision to bring to book genocide deniers. Rwanda as a sovereign state has the right to prosecute lawbreakers within the country.

Rwanda shall not be intimidated by critics who are unhappy that the land of a thousand hills is progressing irrespective of the negative image they are trying to  depict. I must say Rwanda is on the right track and doing just fine.
