Editor, RE: “Quest to protect children from abuse” (The New Times, January 21). Sometimes children are beaten for reasons they don’t even know. Brutal and barbaric parents are equally ignorant of what they are doing. By the time a parent brutally humiliates and inflicts bodily injury to his own child, he/she is mentally unaware of what he/she is doing, and the consequences of the act. When such abused children grow up and take up responsibilities in offices, they want to transfer their past experiences to workmates. Radio, TV, newspaper and general community sensitisation must be intensified. James Munanura
