A.Y gives tips to Rwandan artists

Tanzania’s rap artist, Ambwene Allen Yessayah, alias A.Y has urged Rwandan artists to be hardworking, creative, develop the ability to learn, conceptualize ideas and open their mind to critism, in order to sell their music internationally.

A.Y, who is alleged to be half Rwandan, takes criticism positively and believes that constructive criticism is the best yardstick for measuring achievement.

In 2005, A.Y was the first Tanzanian artist to be nominated for the KORA African Music Awards in the category of ‘Best Male Artist’ from Eastern and Central Africa.

And the same year, his single ‘Inategemea na mtu’—(Depends on the person) was nominated as the best from Tanzania during the ‘Kisima Music Awards’ in Kenya.
