MTN Rwanda has donated 96 computers to secondary schools to enhance ICT and innovation. The computers will come with free access to internet for the next three months. The project is part of the MTN Rwanda Foundation strategy focusing on investment in education as well as the Company’s mandate to connect and empower communities, Mary Asiimwe, the company’s Human Resources and Corporate Affairs General Manager, said. The schools include Kigarama Technical Secondary School in Ngoma, Sumba in Nyamagabe, College Officiel De Mburabuturo in Nyamasheke and Groupe Scolaire Rambura in Nyabihu Western Province. “MTN Foundation’s ICT support is a sign of its commitment to pursue the company’s vision of promoting ICT Education in Rwanda, Asiimwe told The New Times adding that the company appreciated the need for access to quality education and the importance of fostering ICT development for economic sustainability. Since the ICT Connect Schools project begun in 2012, MTN Foundation has already built 24 fully equipped computer labs out of 30 needed to cover all the districts in Rwanda. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
